What is a benign brain tumor?
Most of the time these cells are formed outside of brain tissue. Because they reproduce slowly, they can be easily separated from the brain tissue. For this reason, all or some of the benign tumors can be removed by surgical operation. Benign tumors include colloid cyst, pituitary adenomas, meningiomas, craniopharyngiomas, dermoid/epidermoid, hemangioblastoma, subependymal, giant cell astrocytoma, and neuromas.
What is a malignant brain tumor?
Malignant brain tumors grow abnormally fast and can damage nearby brain tissue. Treatment of malignant brain tumors may differ according to the location and extent of the tumor. Therefore, it is very difficult to completely remove these cells.
